Isaeva: surge of the oppositionists’ activity will be the topic of “United Caucasian Forum” in Makhachkala
According to preliminary data, the question of growth of the opposition’s activity in Russia and its influence on the situation in the republics of the Caucasus will be discussed at “United Caucasian Forum” in Makhachkala, Taisa Isaeva, Chairperson of non-governmental organizations of Chechnya, told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
“The surge of oppositional activity all over the country started during the period between the Duma and presidential election and it is not declining. We are interested in the opinion of human rights activists, journalists and representatives on non-governmental organizations on how the situation will influence the Caucasus which has a special status in Russia and creates a lot of problems the key to the solution of which is not yet found. The question of xenophobia towards natives of the Caucasian republics will also become a subject of discussion”, Isaeva said.
During the first congress of non-governmental organizations of North Caucasus “United Caucasian Forum” held in Nazran on February, 18, it was decided to hold a similar action in the capital of Dagestan. It will take place in the second half of May. About 50 organizations from all over Northern Caucasus are already included in participation in the forum. “I think it will be even a broader action in which foreign organizations will also participate”, Isaeva added.
