Dagestani resident becomes World champion in fights of M-1 Challenge
Rashid Magomedov, a native of Dagestan, became World champion in fights without rules in the M-1 Challenge version in the weight category of up to 77 kg. Today, the republic will honour its countryman, a native of the village of Madjalis of the Kaitag District.
At the tournament of the M-1 version, which was held in Saint Petersburg on March 16, the graduate of the Makhachkala sports club "Gorets" (Highlander) won his title in a duel meet, which lasted nearly half an hour, having defeated Yasubi Enomoto, his opponent from Switzerland.
"I was preparing to win, this is my 19th match in a row, and I spent three years for preparation to this title and I am very glad that I succeeded," Rashid Magomedov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"This victory means a lot to us, Rashid prepared very thoroughly for the duel meet," said Musail Alaudinov, Senior Coach of the sports club "Gorets", in his telephone conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
In other fights of the same tournament, Alexander Emelianenko defeated in the second round by technical knockout Tadas Rimkyavichus, the Lithuanian fighter. Alexei Oleinik from Ukraine gave victory to American Jeff Monson. Alexander Yakovlev, the Russian sportsman, defeated Shamil Zavurov, another sportsman from Russia. David Kozma from the Czech Republic lost to Marat Gafurov, the Russian citizen, the "Championat.com" reports.
