In Georgia, multi-millionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili fined by more than 500,000 US dollars
In Georgia, the monitoring service of the financial activities of political associations of the Control Chamber fined Georgian multi-millionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili of about 2.7 million laris (about 1.65 million US dollars) for conducting Illegal, according to the monitoring service, financing of individuals.
According to the statement of financial monitoring service, the amount of 272,597 laris (about 165,000 US dollars), transferred from the personal account of Bidzina Ivanishvili in favour of the movement "Georgian Dream", which were intended for paying wages of the movement, represents illegal political funding.
It is noted that although the "Georgia Dream" is not formally a political party, but the monitoring of the Control Chamber shall also apply to this movement, "because of political purposes pronounced by it", the "Civil Georgia" reports.
That was the reason to impose a fine on the businessman. According to the laws of Georgia, in such cases, the fine should be equal to the sum of 10 illegally transferred amounts.
The response of Bidzina Ivanishvili himself to sanctions imposed by the Control Chamber is still unknown.
