In Azerbaijan, landslide damages 18 houses
The landslide in the territory of the village of Muganly of the Shamakhi District of Azerbaijan severely damaged 18 private houses, and the evacuation of residents is required. This was reported by a source at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) of the country.
According to Shaig Niftiev, Chief Engineer of the expedition of the complex hydrogeology and engineering geology of the MENR, excessive rainfall has led to a complex geological situation characterized by high water content and increase in the rate of landslide processes.
"The sizes of cracks in the landslide mass have increased, and the landslide processes have covered even more territory. 18 private domestic houses suffered serious damage. Buildings have come into a state of high risk, and activation of landslide processes is observed in the territory of the village and its adjacent forest belt. Melting of snow can even further enhance that process," the "APA" quotes Shaig Niftiev as saying.
Landslide activity is also observed in other regions of Azerbaijan. In particular, it has increased at the Agsuinsky mountain pass, and in landslide areas of the mountain pass, shrinkage of the soil and other processes are observed, the "Trend" reports.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has concluded that residents of the houses in the territory of the village of Muganli should be evacuated, the "AZE.az" reports.
