Organizers of photo exhibition in Yerevan dedicate it to struggle for better social conditions
The struggle to improve social conditions of Armenians is the topic of the exhibition of documentary photos "Great Expectations", which opened in Yerevan on March 16.
"The photos reveal hope, idealism, aspiration, and struggle for better social conditions in Armenia," said Patrick Sutherland, the project manager and the teacher of the London College of Communications.
Sona Adamyan is engaged in photojournalism for more than a year. The heroes of her works, presented as "The 300-Dram Hope" are sellers of lottery tickets. According to her story, they give people some hope, and some expectation of victory.
A series of photos "Life in a Purse" was presented by Nazik Armenakyan. She depicts people buying their purses; they put photos of their kids into them; and then – bills for gas and water, business cards, doctor's prescriptions and keys. "And the purse starts telling stories about its owner," said Ms Armenakyan.
The photographer Gegam Mkrtchyan tells about the melody of the city in his works. His photos tell about a musician, whose desire to survive had brought him into the street. He plays his melody in the tangle of tempo, rhythm, colours, voices and people of this city. "Every sound of every penny dropped to thank him awakes his dream to conquer big stages and travel around the world," says the author Gegam Mkrtchyan.
