Residents of North Ossetia sentenced for murder of student from Kabardino-Balkaria

The court found two participants of mass fight in North Ossetia, in which student Kuanch Guliev, a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, was beaten and later died, guilty and sentenced them to 7 and 8 years of imprisonment.

"The court has recognized the evidence collected by the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania as sufficient to sentence the 22-year-old Aslan Pliev and 23-year-old Aslanbeg Abaev," said an officer form the ICRF.

The investigators and the court found that on November 27, 2010, at about 11:00 p.m., the convicts came to the student of the North-Caucasian State Mining and Metallurgical Institute (NCSMMI), with whom one of the convicts had recently had a quarrel, beat him and fled. The victim was hospitalized. He died on December 5, 2010, after 8-day coma, at the hospital.

On March 15, the court sentenced Aslan Pliev to 8 years of imprisonment and Aslanbeg Abaev to 7 years of imprisonment to be served in a high security penal colony, the website "Kabardino-Balkaria. Mir i My" (Kabardino-Balkaria. World and We) reports.

During the interrogation, which was conducted on February 9, Aslan Pliev and Aslanbeg Abaev denied their guilt and mentioned their friends, who participated in the fight at the dormitory of the NCSMMI as the possible culprits of the tragedy, the "15th Region" reports.

"I did not hold a grudge against students from the KBR (Kabardino-Balkarian Republic), and I was not involved in the fight with them, and I tried to find every possible way to resolve the conflict. During a year, the investigators did not even come close to the truth, so I am still at the dock," stated, in particular, Aslan Pliev.
