Toma Tsechoeva: trial on Chitigov's torture at Ingush MIA goes without violations
In Ingushetia, the trial of Nazir Guliev, the former head of the Karabulak OVD (Interior Division), and his deputy Ilyas Nalgiev, who are accused of torturing Zelimkhan Chitigov, will continue at the Karabulak City Court on March 19. The two previous sessions – on March 12 and 15 – heard the defence witnesses.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was the lawyer Toma Tsechoeva, who is defending Zelimkhan Chitigov from the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", that the court session on March 15 heard evidences of two police officers. "The defence presented its witnesses; and we'll know at sentencing whether their evidences have affected the outcome of the case," said the lawyer.
Earlier, on March 12, the defence witnesses were also heard to. Two female witnesses, relatives of Ilyas Nalgiev, confirmed his stay in the Central Republic's Hospital in the period from April 16 to May 8, 2010. Chitigov was kidnapped, according to his relatives, on April 27.
The defence party, in the person of Aza Nalgieva, and the prosecution party refused to comment on the trial.
