People, suffered in gas explosion in Vladikavkaz, to demand cancellation of sentence to defendant
The victims in the case of the gas cylinder explosion at wedding in Vladikavkaz in June 2011 would demand cancellation of the court's verdict to the defendant Vadim Vazagov.
The explosion in Vladikavkaz injured 55 persons, nine of them died. On March 15, the court sentenced Vadim Vazagov to 2.5 years of imprisonment.
In the early 2000s, Vadim Vazagov purchased for his personal purposes three used gas cylinders with compressed, liquefied and soluble gas with an expired inspection. This was stated by the Judge at reading out the verdict. On July 25, 2011, the defendant used cylinders for cooking food at the wedding of his brother.
The victims have no claims to the Vadim Vazagov and asked for him the minimum sentence, since they believe that he was punished by the very fact of the incident, in which his relatives, including his children, suffered.
However, the court disagreed with the opinion of the victims, who asked to free Vadim Vazagov from punishment. The court sentenced him to 2.5 years of imprisonment in a colony of settlement.
Irina Khabieva, the lawyer of Vadim Vazagov, believes, in principle, for her client, the criminal penalties have no longer any significance compared to all fact that he had experienced.
Vadim Vazagov and almost all people, who came to support him, left the courtroom with tears in their eyes. The relatives and the victims were indignant about the court's decision and stated that they would hold a rally to protest against the verdict pronounced.
