A bodyguard perished and three others got wounded as a result of an attempt at President of Abkhazia

As a result of an attempt at President of Abkhazia Alexander Anqauab his bodyguard perished and three officers of the President’s personal security service got wounded. The state of one of them is extremely grave, the physicians are striving for his life.

A guided landmine exploded on the way of following of the President’s motorcade in Gudauta district. After the explosion fire was opened at the motorcade from a grenade launcher, a machinegun and self-firers. At the moment of the attempt Anqauab’s bodyguards screened him with their bodies.  

“The guard personnel returned the fire. As a result of the skirmish three guard officers were wounded, two of them got grave wounding. One more officer of State Security Service died”, RIA “Novosti” quotes Christina Bzhania, official representative of Head of the republic.

“Two injured officers were taken to hospital. One of them, Remzik Tsguba, was already dead, the other, Tengis Pandaria, had a gunshot penetrating skull wound”, Head Doctor of the Republican hospital Nargiza Kharchilava said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

According to her, the physicians are striving for Tengis Pandaria’s life. “Neurosurgeon Alexander Svinukhov performed an urgent operation”, she said.

It was already the sixth attempt at Anquab who earlier held the office of Prime Minister and then Vice-president of Abkhazia.
