Kabardino-Balkaria: 173 victims of armed confrontation in 2011
Over the period of 2011, no less than 173 persons became victims of armed confrontation in Kabardino-Balkaria, 129 of them were killed and 44 got wounded. These are the totals of calculation by the “Caucasian Knot” based on the data from its staff correspondents and other open sources.
According to law enforcement bodies, no less than 80 people involved in armed underground were killed in the republic in 2011. No less than 73 representatives of the same category of persons were detained.
Among the personnel of power-wielding structures, all in all no less than 31 persons were killed during the year and 32 more got wounded as a result of firings, blasting and armed confrontations.
Civilians also become victims of the simmering conflict. No less than 30 of such cases were registered in Kabardino-Balkaria in 2011. No less than 18 peaceful residents were killed as a result of explosions, firing and attempts in 2011, and no less than 12 more were wounded.
Kidnappings and disappearances of people are going on in the context of the simmering conflict. All in all no less than four cases of this kind were registered in Kabardino-Balkaria in 2011.
