Armenia will cancel daylight-saving time regime change in summer and winter and change its time zone
The time regime used in Armenia is out of keeping with its geographical position and time zone, Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan told the journalists on December, 27. He also promised that Armenia would cancel daylight-saving time regime change in summer and in winter.
According to him, cancellation of winter time is planned for passing into another time zone. This passage will be carried out for the country to be in the time zone which, in Davtyan's opinion, will keep with Armenia's geographical position.
"After correction of the time zones we will be closer to Moscow and European timed which is more in accordance with our geographical position, NEWS.am quotes the Minister of Economy.
In Davtyan's opinion, this passage will be more convenient for both business and tourism and members of the public, PanArmenian reports.
By its geographical position, Armenia is in the third time zone but for a number of reasons it is officially in the fourth zone. In spring when Armenia passes to summer daylight-saving time it gets into the fifth time zone.

At the same time, supporters of passing to daylight-saving time and then back to the winter time are sure that there is an economic reasoning for that and their main argument is saving energy and energy resources, "Novosti-Armenia" writes.
It should be reminded that this year the passage between daylight-saving summer time regime and the winter time was cancelled in Russia.
