In Sochi, on December 24, the famous ski resort "Roza Khutor" started its work. The holiday held on the occasion was attended by more than a thousand people.
"The capacity of the 'Roza Khutor' is 10,000 persons a day," said Sergey Bachin, Director General of the ski resort, at the opening ceremony.
He noted that the resort has several dozens of ski track kilometres at the altitude of 1600-2400 meters, the "Interfax" reports.
"This year we offer our guests more than 40 kilometres of different level of trails. But most importantly, we guarantee snow on them. We have created the Europe's largest snowmaking system, which includes more than 400 snow cannons," said Bachin.
The total cost of the resort made 1.8 billion US dollars. Now, it operates two hotels - the Tulip and the Park Inn, located near the ski lifts, the "NIA-Kuban" reports.
Already in February 2012, the "Roza Khutor" will host a World Cup round in Alpine skiing - the first event of this scale ever held in Russia, the "Sovietskiy Sport" writes.
