Chechen State University bans mobile phones

From now on, the students of the Chechen State University are forbidden to use their mobile phones during classes. The university bosses believe that cell phones distract students from classes, but some students think that this decision is unjustified.

"Now, prior entering a classroom, students will give away their mobile phones. This decision was caused by the practical conclusion that the use of mobile phones drops the students' academic performance. Many of them use their phones right during classes not only to enter social networks and chats. Mobile phones have become major distributors of obscene videos and other immoral materials," an official from the university's dean office told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The students have reacted differently to this decision of university bosses. According to some of them, the ban on mobile phone use violates their rights.

"I have sick parents, and I need a phone first of all to be able to react in case of emergency. Those who use their mobile phones for communicating in "Odnoklassniki" or spreading some profanity will still do it outside the university," said Magomed U., a student.

Ramzan B., another student of the Chechen State University, has treated this decision as "violation of students' rights." "Such measures like prohibiting mobile phones in the university seem unnecessary to me," he said.
