Trunov: victims of Dubrovka terror act to file new lawsuits for compensation
The victims of the terror act committed in the Dubrovka Theatre Centre in Moscow will file new lawsuits claiming compensation against Moscow authorities after the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), said Igor Trunov, the lawyer for the victims.
"The today's decision of the ECtHR means that we have the right to file new lawsuits for compensation of moral harm against the government of Moscow, which had been earlier rejected by the Tver Court of Moscow," said the lawyer.
Mr Trunov has reminded that 83 civil cases, where applicants claimed compensation of moral harm, had been lost in Russian courts. They ruled to collect only material compensation in favour of those claimants, whose breadwinners had perished, the RAPSI reports.
The lawyer has added that by the law the material responsibility will be borne by the Government of Moscow. "We'll seek criminal prosecution of the officials guilty of such a high death rate. These are the medics, law enforcers and employees of the counterterrorist headquarters. Despite the all elapsed time, everyone shall be held accountable," the Russian News Service quotes Mr Trunov as saying.
