Families of victims of Karabakh conflict to get new housing in Nagorno-Karabakh

Till the end of 2011, 91 families of the militaries who perished in the Karabakh conflict will receive apartments in Stepanakert, said Narine Astsatryan, Minister of Social Care of Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Forty-seven families will receive one-room apartments; others – two- or three-room ones," she said.

The apartments are mainly in new buildings in the new Stepanakert district named "Artsakh". "Given the need to ensure transparency and social justice, the provision of apartments will be arranged during the few coming days by means of a draw," Ms Astsatryan has promised.

The Mayoralty of Stepanakert has reported that "the Mayoralty's preferential waiting list contains 146 families of perished soldiers; of them 91 families will get their housing till the New Year."

The housing needs of the remaining 55 families will be additionally studied by the government of Nagorno-Karabakh.
