Three persons killed in special operation in KChR
Tonight in the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), in the course of a special operation three persons, earlier involved, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), in attacking traffic policemen in the township of Mirny, Stavropol Territory, were killed.
Today, power agents had an armed skirmish with suspected militants in the Malokarachay District of the KChR. The operation was conducted in the centre of the village of Uchkeken, where alleged militants were blocked in an apartment of a five-storey building.
"The militants were blocked, but when offered to surrender, they opened automatic fire," reports the press service of the Chief Department to Combat Extremism of Russian MIA.
Special OMON (Mobile Police) and SWAT (Special Weapons Assault Team) police units of the MIA for the KChR storm the building. After three suspected militants were killed, a fire set on in the apartment.
The ITAR-TASS reports that a local OMON fighter was injured during the skirmish.
