Sochi hosts picket against fraudulent elections
Today, a sanctioned picket against falsification of the outcomes of the Russian State Duma elections was held in Sochi.
The action brought together more than a hundred persons, who wore white ribbons on their breasts; some of them had stickers over their mouths reading "My vote was stolen". The protesters held posters expressing protest against unfair elections and "theft of votes".
The organizer of the picket Olga Noskovets said that local authorities had tried to prevent the protest. However, according to her story, they protesters had never done and would never do anything illegal.
The action was also attended by members of the local branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), "Yabloko" Party, NGO "People's Assembly", "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus", and human rights defenders Sergey Basmanov and Mikhail Vinyukov.
The action was monitored by policemen from the Tsentralny District and Sochi OVD (Interior Department). The event passed without incidents.
