Protesters in Moscow demand to cancel State Duma election outcomes

The participants of the today's rally "For Fair Elections" have demanded to cancel the outcomes of the vote at the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation dismiss the head of the Russian CEC (central Election Commission) and release political prisoners.

The action was several-thousand strong; and the "Yabloko" Party was the organizer.

Leaders of political parties and movements, of human rights and civil society organizations called the crowd that gathered in Bolotnaya Square to demonstrate their civil stand with respect to the current authorities and falsifications admitted at the December 4 Duma elections.

The rally was dominated by flags with symbols of the "Yabloko" Party, posters in defence of the Khimki Forest and slogans on elections in Russia. People were actively supported the speakers with applause and echoed their appeals.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that there were plenty of youth in the square. The people who came to the rally were friendly and expressed their willingness to actively exercise their civic stance.

The action lasted for about three hours; it was covered by many local and foreign media people. There were no incidents during the rally; policemen did not apply force and detained nobody.

Let us note here that the today's rally in Bolotnaya Square brought together much less people than the protest of those who disagreed with the outcomes of the elections, which took place in Moscow on December 10.
