In Dagestan, CPRF observer at elections claims being threatened

In Dagestan, Abdullah Magomedov, a resident of the town Krasnoarmeisk, who was the observer from the CPRF (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) at the elections, conducted on December 4, reported that representatives of the local administration put strong pressure upon him. In particular, according to Abdullah Magomedov, after he had reported violations at the elections, they threatened to kill the observer himself and his family members.

Abdullah Magomedov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he was an observer at the electoral precinct No. 1036, located in the town of Krasnoarmeisk. According to Abdullah Magomedov, a massive ballot box stuffing was committed, and when he had made a reproof about that, no one responded.

"At closing of the electoral precinct, I was to stay at the precinct; however, I was not allowed. Our precinct inspector Nariman (the complainant does not know his surname) asked me to leave and told me about another observer, a woman from the CPRF, at the electoral precinct, although there was no woman-observer from our party at the electoral precinct. When I tried to explain to the precinct inspector that I should bring the protocol to the Republic's Committee of the party, they told me that they would give a protocol to that woman and that she would bring it there," stated Abdullah Magomedov.

According to the observer, on December 10, he gathered his supporters in the town of Krasnoarmeisk to discuss the election results. According to Abdullah Magomedov, on the same evening Abubakar Kurbanismailov, the head of the town administration, and his associate Magomed Khasbulatov, who were armed with pistols, broke into his house. They have promised that in case if he continues such activities, they would "liquidate" the observer and his family. They stated that they "would do whatever they wanted," said Abdullah Magomedov.

Abdullah Magomedov fears for himself and his family members, and, according to him, "at present, for safety reasons, he tries not to leave his house." He also filed a complaint about Kurbanismailov's threats to the Republic's Prosecutor's Office.

After that, according to Abdullah Magomedov, Abubakar Kurbanismailov tried to influence him through his relatives. "Abubakar told my family members to persuade me to recall my complaint; however, I do not intend to give up. He also denies that he had put a pistol to my temple, and he says that there were his keys. I work in security service, I have a service weapon, and I can definitely distinguish a pistol from keys," says Abdullah Magomedov.

The press service of the Ministry of Interior Affairs (MIA) reported that the report of December 10 included no complaint filed by Abdullah Magomedov, and for technical reasons they could not consider the report of December 11.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has not yet managed to contact Abubakar Kurbanismailov, the head of the town administration of Krasnoarmeisk. He does not answer telephone calls.
