Putin: in preparation for the Olympiad Sochi gets unprecedented federal donations

Sochi bureaucrats should not shy away from addressing citizens' everyday problems under the guise of preparing the Olympics. They have all the resources in place for that, said the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin during his direct dialogue with Russian citizens in his answer to the question of a Sochi woman.

"Certain bureaucrats in Sochi try to run the third capital of Russia and forget that they have to work for people," said Natalia Serdyukova, a resident of Sochi in the live programme "Dialogue with Vladimir Putin. To Be Continued" and asked the Prime Minister whether there is a mechanism to affect such bureaucrats.

"Those who have to deal with the current work should not hide behind the need to solve problems of global nature; there are people to deal with the latter. There are structures there specifically in charge of Olympic facilities. Of course, some of the responsibility is with the city administration; however, it should not escape addressing the current problems of citizens. I'll talk about it with the Mayor," said Mr Putin.

Thus, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 75-year-old Nadezhda Chubenko lost her house because of construction of a road junction in Sochi. In summer of 2011, builders demolished her house, where she had lived for 40 years, and brought the woman with the remnants of her belongings to the forest, where she found an abandoned outhouse and spent several summer weeks there. On December 9, the Sochi City Administration accommodated Nadezhda Chubenko, a victim of the Olympic resettlement, into a room in a two-room apartment.

The fate of the large Revenko family, Chubenko neighbours, is also under question - they stay in the street with their small children amidst winter. Officials and the court refused to grant them with housing, despite the fact that all the members of this family had been registered in the demolished house No. 10 in Makarenko Street, where they were born.

According to Vladimir Putin, he had often heard the criticism of this kind. The Prime Minister apologized to the residents of Sochi for the inconveniences caused by the preparations for the 2014 Olympics, said the website of the Russian Government.

"Soon this stage of preparatory work will be over; however, the entire smart infrastructure will remain in place, which no other region of the country has; and Sochi inhabitants will be able to benefit from it," said Vladimir Putin.
