In Georgia, 9000 IDP families to receive housing
In 2012, the Georgian Ministry of Refugees and Resettlement will legalize housing for 9000 families of internally displaced persons (IDPs). This was reported by Minister Koba Subeliani.
"In 2011, we have legalized housing for 27,000 families. In the next year, we plan to increase this figure to 36,000," reported Koba Subeliani today at the government meeting.
According to him, the Ministry will continue to carry out rehabilitation works in buildings, which earlier were the parts of the health care system, to give them to the IDPs, who temporarily live with their relatives or in rented apartments, the "News-Georgia" reports.
The Minister has also emphasized that new houses for IDPs are under construction in the west of the country. In particular, 35 cottages are under construction in Kutaisi (Imereti Region), 22 buildings cases - in Batumi (Adzharian Autonomous Republic), 10 - in Zugdidi (Samegrelo Region), and 10 - in Tskaltubo (Imereti Region), the "Kavkaz-News" reports.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 3, the Georgian Ministry of Finance and the German Credit Bank for Reconstruction (KfW) signed the agreement on additional financing of the project "Urgent rehabilitation of houses for IDPs", under which KfW would give to Georgia 4 million euros to solve housing problems of refugees.
