In Azerbaijan, police suppresses action "Let's read books!"

In Baku, a group of young activists held an action to raise interest in book reading. Police suppressed gathering of activists.

On December 10, an action "Let's read books!" was held in Baku. About two dozen young people from the organization "Free Youth" sat down with books on benches along Nizami Street in Baku.

Later, young people gathered in front of the National Library named after Akhundov. They raised books above their heads and called people to read more, the news agency "Turan" reports.

However, policemen began to hinder the action, demanding to leave the place. "If policemen allow us, we will read books," the edition "Contact online news" quoted one of the protesters as saying.

Earlier, on December 6, the organization "Free Youth" conducted a flash mob in Baku subway cars, when young people together began to read books. The action was continued in the centre of the city in "Fountain Square". Policemen also stopped the action, saying that young people break the public order.
