Basmanny Court of Moscow extends arrest of suspect of killing Anna Politkovskaya
The Basmanny Court of Moscow has decided to extend the arrest of Rustam Makhmudov, the accused in the murder case of Anna Politkovskaya, a journalist of "Novaya Gazeta", till March 7, 2012, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed today at the court.
According to investigators, Makhmudov was the executor of an ordered killing. Daria Trenina, an advocate of the defendant, has announced her intention to appeal against this decision.
In his turn, Alexei Mikhalchik, the advocate of the defendant Sergey Khadjikurbanov, told about the decision of the court to extend the preliminary investigation on the case until May 2012.
The suffered party did not exclude this possibility, but asserts that they received no official notifications, the RAPSI reports.
The court session, where Makhmudov's arrest was extended, took place on December 5.
