Protesters against falsification of election results detained in Dagestan

In Dagestan, participants of the protest rally against the results of the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation conducted on December 4 report on detention of protesters, including members of the "Yabloko" Party.

Today, Makhachkala hosted a meeting of like-minded people united by their confidence in falsification of the results of the elections conducted on December 4. According to different estimates, the meeting resulted in detention of 6 to 7 participants, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"Several dozen people attended the meeting. It was not a rally, since the authorities did not sanction it, and it was namely the meeting of like-minded people. We planned to discuss the topic of the recent elections to the State Duma and the results," told one of the meeting participants, who preferred to remain anonymous, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, starting from the morning a large number of policemen was on duty in the centre of Makhachkala for the case of the protest action.

"Soon, police officers approached the place of the meeting and arrested several people "to identify their personalities", although I saw the protesters presented their passports by the request of the police officers," told the source the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"At least six participants of the meeting near the National Library were detained and brought to the Soviet ROVD (District Interior Division) 'to identify their personalities', although they had presented their passports," the journalist Sergey Rasulov wrote in Facebook at the group "Journalists of Dagestan".
