South Ossetian President Kokoity rejects Djioeva's ultimatum
Eduard Kokoity, current President of South Ossetia, has rejected the Alla Djioeva's demand to recognize her till 6:00 p.m. as President of South Ossetia. General Anatoly Barankevich, ex-Defence Minister of South Ossetia, has cautioned Djioeva's supporters protesting in the square in Tskhinvali against provocations.
Alla Djioeva, the presidential candidate of South Ossetia, has prepared an appeal to the South Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity, in which she demanded to recognize her victory in the election till 6:00 p.m. Moscow time and stated that otherwise she would relieve herself of the responsibility for the actions of her supporters.
"I do not accept any ultimatums," the "Interfax" quotes Eduard Kokoity as saying.
General Anatoly Barankevich, ex-Defence Minister of South Ossetia, urged supporters of the presidential candidate Alla Djioeva for discipline and order.
"You should remember: they are waiting for an excuse to introduce an emergency regime. However, we are in a legal framework. Let anyone, who would not agree, go away. If all people do not agree – I will go away," stated Anatoly Barankevich.
He has read off the Djioeva's ultimatum statement to the authorities and urged the protesters not to leave the square until all points of the statement are completed.
