Azerbaijan elected vice-president of UNESCO Committee
In the course of the session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage, Azerbaijan was elected one of the Vice-Presidents of the Committee.
On November 29, the last day of the sixth regular session of the Intergovernmental Committee for Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which was held on Bali Island in Indonesia, saw election of the new President of the Committee, four Vice-Presidents and the Rapporteur.
As a result, Grenada was elected President of the Committee, and Azerbaijan, Iran, Madagascar and Morocco became Vice-Presidents, and Spain became the Rapporteur. It was decided that the seventh session will be held in Grenada, the "News-Azerbaijan" reports.
Besides, during the session, two Azerbaijani NGOs – the Association "Azerbaijani Carpet Weavers" and Public Association "World of Music" – received recommendations, along with other NGOs from 27 countries, for accreditation at the UNESCO.
The accreditation of the NGOs will be held during the fourth session of the General Assembly of the Member-States of the "Convention for Protecting the Intangible Heritage" to be held next year, the "Trend" reports.
