Chechen mosques urge believers to take part in elections
In Chechnya, in the local mosques, believers are explained the importance of participating in the upcoming December 4 elections to the Russian State Duma and municipal power bodies.
"Today, our republic has 600 mosques. Over 500,000 believers come there every Friday to pray. By the decision of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Chechnya, sermons on the importance of participation in the elections were read in mosques before the Friday prayer – the ruzba-namaz," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Chechen Muftiate.
According to the SAM officials, participation in electing power bodies is "the right we had been deprived of for decades; therefore, everyone should express his or her civil position."
On December 4, Chechnya will hold elections of State Duma deputies and municipal power bodies.
