Maxim Shevchenko not included in new membership of Russian Public Chamber
Today, the voting on the second list of candidates to the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation (PCRF) has finished. According to its results, Maxim Shevchenko, the well-known journalist and active member of the PCRF, was not included in the new list.
Maxim Shevchenko is the head of the Working Group on the development of social dialogue and civil society institutions in the Caucasus of the PCRF. As part of his public duties, Maxim Shevchenko repeatedly visited regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) to protect the rights of local residents.
For example, Maxim Shevchenko intervened in the conflict related to the dismissal of Alibek Bashkaev, the double World Champion in Judo and his mentor Ruslan Koichuev from the children's and youth sports school of Olympic reserve in Sambo and Judo of Karachay-Cherkessia and demanded to protect the rights of the athlete.
In August, the head of the Working Group declared his readiness to be an intermediary in the conflict between residents of the villages of Gimry and Untsukul of the Republic of Dagestan, which killed seven people, including a 2-year-old girl.
