Participants of the Armenian-Turkish business forum in Yerevan decide to hold a business conference in Turkey
The participants of the two-day Turkish-Armenian business forum, held on November 22-23 in Yerevan, decided in six months to hold a business conference in Turkey. According to their opinion, the main problem between Armenians and Turks is in mutual distrust and lack of information about each other.
Prior to the business conference in Turkey, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia (UIEA) and other organizers of the forum will convene a plenary session with the agenda including the problems announced at the forum.
According to Arthur Gazaryan, the head of the programme "Support to improved Armenian-Turkish relations" of the UIEA, the main problem between Armenians and Turks is in mutual distrust and lack of information about each other.
According to his story, 46 registered companies with Turkish capital are operating the joint Armenian-Turkish businesses in Armenia; and in the absence of any settled relations – interstate treaties, diplomatic and trade relations between Armenia and Turkey – the business etiquette should come to help in such strained relations.
The forum was attended by about 50 Turkish businessmen from Diyarbakir, Kars, Igdyr, Istanbul, Ankara, Malatya and 70 Armenian businessmen from across the country. As noted by Arthur Gazaryan, it was assumed to meet more Turkish participants at the forum; however, due to organizational problems related to the purchase of tickets about 30 Turkish businessmen could not arrive in Armenia.
