Azerbaijani journalist Fatullaev receives CPJ's award "Freedom of Press"
In the evening on November 22, New York hosted the 21st awarding ceremony of the "Freedom of Press", held by the International Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ). The Azerbaijani journalist Einullah Fatullaev was among this year's laureates.
This year the prestigious awards were given to journalists from Bahrain (Mansour al-Jarmi), Belarus (Natalia Radina), Mexico (Javier Valdez Cardenas) and Pakistan (Umar Chimar). Along with them, the Prize "Freedom of Press" was presented to the Azerbaijani journalist Einullah Fatullaev, who was awarded in 2009, but could receive it because he was in prison them.
"I was happy to meet my friends and colleagues from the CPJ and members of international community. I thanked them for their support and appreciation of our work in Azerbaijan," Einullah, who was invited to the ceremony along with his father Emin Fatullaev, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
In his speech at the awarding ceremony, the journalist spoke about the problems of the freedom of the in Azerbaijan, pressure on journalists, and the murder in 2005 of Elmar Guseinov, editor-in-chief of the "Monitor" magazine, which still remains unsolved.
