Writer Rafiq Tagi buried in Azerbaijan
Today, Baku held funeral of the writer and publicist Rafiq Tagi, who died as a result of an attack undertaken on him on November 19. Journalists and the opposition have demanded a thorough investigation into his death.
The funeral ceremony was attended mostly by relatives and friends of the deceased. The authorities, representatives of the Press Council and other official institutions of Azerbaijan failed to appear. Those of the press, political parties and public organizations were also very few.
This was partly due to the fact that today a heavy snow went down on Baku, which hampered the traffic; therefore, many people just failed to reach the town cemetery named "Wolves' Gate", where the writer was buried.
According to preliminary data of the medical examination of Tagi's body, he died from a stab wound in his abdomen.
The Azerbaijani Press Council issued an obituary, which informs with great sadness about the death of Tagi; however, bypassing the reason of his death and failing to comment on the attack on him committed on November 19.
