Residents of Astrakhan working in the Far East cannot get their salary and go back home
About 40 welders from Astrakhan have not received their salary for shift work in Amur shipbuilding plant in Khabarovsk region for already over two months.
For the reason of being unprovided they cannot go back home.
The residents of Astrakhan came to work in Amur shipbuilding plant after Astrakhan shipbuilding plant became bankrupt. Part of the people from Astrakhan started working in Komsomolsk-on-Amur yet in spring and were satisfied, on the whole. In August the intermediary firm also suggested other professional people from Astrakhan to stay for a new shift and paid the fare at once.
Work contracts were signed already on-site, the salary turned out to be several times less than promised earlier. According to the workers, they first stopped receiving daily allowances and for some time they had to live on a starvation diet. In September and October the workers got no salary at all.
Now almost all the 40 people have to stay in Komsomolsk-on-Amur unprovided and unable to go back home for they have no money even to buy return tickets, NTV reports.
Municipal Administration is aware of the situation with the workers from Astrakhan but cannot help them. “These workers were brought here by some company from the West on an agreement with Far Eastern Center of shipbuilding and ship repair, Alexander Ovchinnikov, Head of Industrial Department of the Administration of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, said. – Naturally, it is not Amur shipbuilding plant but the employers who must settle accounts with them. How could we help in this situation? Give them money from our own salary? Though the conflict is developing in our territory we cannot help it”.
Representatives of municipal Labour Inspectorate, in their turn, declared that they had not received any appeals from this group of workers, “Komsomolskaya Pravda” reports.
