Witnesses are questioned at trial of Rostov-on-Don residents accused of terrorism

Today, panel of federal judges of the Rostov Regional Court questioned the prosecutors' and defence's witnesses in a criminal case against three residents of Rostov-on-Don, accused of terrorism.

On April 23, 2010, in Rostov-on-Don an improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered and defused. The IED used nails as damaging elements. On April 30, 2010, three suspects were detained. All of them – Dmitry Fedorushkin, 31, Alexander Svetlitsky, 22, and Pavel Efremov, 29, the Rostov-on-Don residents – are accused of illegal transportation of explosive devices and attempt to commit a terror act.

A prosecutors' witness told the court that Alexander Svetlitsiky himself planted an explosive device to the building of the territorial migration service department. "The place, where the guy left the box, was well lit by street lighting lanterns, so, I remember the Svetlitsky's face," stated the witness Frans Garsegyan.

Among the defence's witnesses, four class- and group mates of the defendant Alexander Svetlitsky gave testimonies. All of them described him in positive and reported that they had never noticed signs of extremism in his world view.
