Soldiers of training ground "Ashuluk" complain to human rights defenders about service conditions

The Astrakhan Committee of Soldiers' Mothers received an appeal from regular soldiers of military unit No. 08275 of the training ground "Ashuluk". The soldiers complained about the conditions, in which they are to serve, and about the fact that soldiers without appropriate skills are attracted to the disposal of ammunition.

"When the young men arrived to the unit in early November, they were shocked by the conditions, in which they were to serve, and they sounded the alarm. The soldiers prepared an appeal, photographed the conditions of their stay. They sent all that data to human rights defenders and to the military prosecutor's office," stated Anatoly Salin, the expert on legal issues of the Committee of Soldiers' Mothers.

"During loading, no safety arrangements are followed; boxes with ammunition are often made of rotten wood, and they break up in transportation; ammunition, including artillery one, often contain fuses. They did not ask our consent for this kind of work, and the works are not paid," the "Provintsiya" quotes the soldiers' statement.

This year, a series of soldiers' deaths occurred at the training ground "Ashuluk". According to the "Caucasian Knot" calculations, during 44 days – August 23-October 5 – at the training ground, including at disposal of ammunition, 12 soldiers perished.

According to Anatoly Selin, the Committee of Soldiers' Mothers has decided to make public the soldiers' appeal, since, according to the Committee, military officials and regulating authorities ignore the situation and do "nothing to improve the soldiers' lives and stop the chaos at the training ground," the "Astrakhan FM" reports.
