In Karachay-Cherkessia, mother of deceased recruit states investigators' inaction
The mother of Taulan Gochiyaev, a recruit from Karachay-Cherkessia, who was killed in Volgograd in 2010, complains of inaction of law enforcement bodies and demands a fair investigation.
"I want one thing only: that those guilty of the death of my son are duly punished," Indira Gochiyaeva said in her video appeal posted on the "Caucasian Knot".
According to her story, on December 26, 2010, Taulan Gochiyaev arrived in the military unit No. 22220, located in the township of Gorkovskiy of the city of Volgograd. According to the mother, she was told at the unit that a few hours after his arrival the recruit disappeared and was regarded as a deserter. His personal belongings, including a mobile phone and coat, remained in the barrack.
"On that very day, together with my elder son, I went to Volgograd; we looked for Taulan ourselves, searched the nearby forests and house basements. The long painful searches gave no results. A month later, to be more exact, in 26 days, on January 21, 2011, at the distance of eight kilometres away from the military unit, the body of my son was found hanged, without shoes and with signs of severe beatings, humiliation and suffocation," said the mother of the perished recruit.
According to Ms Gochiyaeva, there are both suspects and witnesses in the case. However, despite the evidence that her son was killed, the police, in mother's opinion, fail to take effective action.
So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments from the military unit and law enforcement bodies regarding the death of the recruit Taulan Gochiyaev.
