Zubkov in Volgograd criticized the officials for being slow in solving the "people's problems"
First Vice-premier Victor Zubkov criticized local officials in Volgograd for being slow in solving the "people's problems" and gave them two weeks to improve the situation.
During a conference in Volgograd on November, 11, First Vice-premier of the Government of the Russian Federation was sharp in his criticism concerning the speed of works on illuminating the streets, repairing the roads, resettling tenants from decrepit buildings.
"The city must be put in order. The roads are in a very poor state. What does a three-years' program of illumination in the city mean? The fascists were defeated at Stalingrad within 200 days! Who will wait for three years? Children walk along dark streets, urban settlements, such as Seleznevka, have no illumination at all!", ITAR-TASS quotes Vice-premier.
Victor Zubkov declared that he would come back in two weeks and see what has been done to remove the shortcomings he pointed out.
Members of Volgograd department of "United Russia" approved of Vice-premier's criticism and do not consider it an election talk. According to the regional department, problems of repairing the roads, landscape gardening, garbage disposal and utilization, illumination of the streets, public transport and communications have not yet been solved in the city", "Commersant" reports.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that in September Victor Zubkov headed the list of candidates from "United Russia" in Volgograd region at the State Duma election.
