Weightlifter from Kabardino-Balkaria wins gold at World Championship in France

Khadjimurat Akkaev, an athlete from Kabardino-Balkaria, won the World Championship in Weightlifting, held in Paris on November 5-13.

Khadjimurat Akkaev, acting in the weight category of up to 105 kg, scored in the double-event 430 kg (198 kg - in snatch and 232 kg in clean and jerk).

Dmitry Klokov, another Russian weightlifter, was Akkaev's main rival at the World Championship. At clean and jerk, both Russian athletes showed the same result of 232 kg. However, at snatch, Khadjimurat Akkaev won with the result of 198 kg, and Dmitry Klokov demonstrated the second result (196 kg).
