Native of Dagestan Shamil Gasankhanov wins World Sambo Champion
Shamil Gasankhanov, a native of Dagestan, acting in the weight category of 74 kg, won a gold medal at World Championship in Combat Sambo, held on November 11-13 in Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital.
In the semi-final and final matches the athlete, trained by of Zainulav Gasankhanov, the Dagestani famous coach, alternately defeated his rivals from Ukraine and Estonia, who had been knocked out.
The results of Shamil Gasankhanov's performance are counted in favour of both the Republic of Dagestan and the Saratov Region, since at present Shamil Gasankhanov works as a teacher at the physical culture chair of the Saratov Institute of Internal Troops, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.
