Central Election Committee of South Ossetia set the day of the second round of presidential election on November, 27
According to preliminary information after data handling of 98,84% ballot papers, Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Anatoly Bibilov (25,44%) and ex-Minister of Education Alla Jioeva (25,37%) are in the lead at the presidential election in South Ossetia. They will participate in the second round fixed on November, 27. This was reported by Bella Plieva, Head of republican Central Election Committee.
"None of the candidates was elected President of South Ossetia in the first round. Anatoly Bibilov and Alla Jioeva received the majority of votes. In case if none of the candidates receives the necessary number of votes Central Election Committee appoints re-run of election", she said.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that on Sunday, November, 13, presidential election and a referendum on conferring the Russian language the status of the state one were held in South Ossetia.
According to Plieva, all in all 67,5% of the electorate took part in the election, RIA "Novosti" reports.
Re-run of election will be held on November, 27, "Interfax" quotes Head of Central Election Committee.
There were 11 candidates on the list. The election was connected with expiration of the term of office of sitting President Edward Kokoity.
