In Georgia, district head detained as bribery suspect
Employees of the Department of Constitutional Safety of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have detained Igor Tkebuchava, the head of the Khobi district administration, on charges of bribery, the MIA has announced today.
"Igor Tkebuchava extorted 5000 laris (3000 US dollars) from some entrepreneur in exchange for winning the tender, announced by the Khobi administration," the MIA has clarified.
The Ministry has also made public the operative video, which shows the bribe-taking, the "News-Georgia" reports.
The "Georgia Online" quotes Soso Topuridze, the deputy head of the Department of Constitutional Safety, who said that the crime assumes up to 9 years in prison.
The position of Tkebuchava or his representatives as to the charges is unknown.
