The court in Baku rejected one more appeal of journalist Zeinalov's attorney
On November, 10, a trial under the chairmanship of judge Faik Gasymov was held in the Appelate Court of Baku on the case on Avaz Zeinalov, Editor-in-Chief of "Khural" newspaper. His new appeal was not granted.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that Zeinalov Avaz Tapdyg oglu, founder and Editor-in-Chief of "Khural" newspaper, was arrested on October, 28. Department of Struggle against Corruption initiated a criminal case against him according to clauses "Bribery on a large scale" and "Bribe-taking by means of threats" based on a complaint from deputy Gulyar Ahmedova. Later, three more persons submitted statements of active bribery to the journalist to Department of Struggle against Corruption under Prosecutor General's.
On October, 31, Zeinalov's attorney filed four appeals at once but the court rejected them.
One more lawsuit concerning the judgment of Nasimi court was submitted on October, 26. The decision of tapping the telephones of Zeinalov and his people was held valid, "SalamNews" reports.
The journalist's attorney Elchin Sadygov considers his client "Avaz Zeinally a political prisoner" for the prosecuting party has no evidence of the crimes committed by him. "Zeinalov will appeal to the European Court", radio "Azadlyg" quotes the lawyer.
On November, 5, international organization for defense of freedom of press "Reporters without Borders" put forward a demand of Zenalov's immediate release condemning the verdict of the Appelate Court of holding the judgment of the first instance court of the journalist's arrest valid.
