Armenia: opposition marks Youth Day with protest action
Today, in the centre of Yerevan activists of the oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) held a demonstration and a flash mob dated to the celebration of World Youth Day.
During the rally, the ANC's members protested against the current government.
The activists marched through the city centre shouting slogans: "Armenia without Serzh" (Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, - note of the "Caucasian Knot"), "Armenia without Rob" (Robert Kocharyan is Ex-President of Armenia, - note of the "Caucasian Knot"), the "Arminfo" reports.
In the "Republic" Square, the ANC's members held a flash mob. Two groups of the activists - one from Amiryan Street and the other from Tigran Mets Avenue - entered the Square and took place in the centre of the mosaic with posters reading: "We won't be silent", "Do not be silent when you're being robbed", "Army is Massacre".
The activists were approached by two police officers who asked them to leave the mosaic; however, the activists refused and stated that they would go away after the protest rally, the "PanARMENIAN.Net" reports.
