Hunger-striker Maxim Slipchenko released from Rostov police station

Maxim Slipchenko, an activist of the movement "Left-Wing Front", detained in Rostov-on-Don, who on November 7 went on a hunger strike at the police station, has been released.

"I spent almost 48 hours in a cell. Only last night I was brought to the magistrate court, which took into account my hunger strike and sentenced me to two days of administrative arrest. Then, they brought me to the detention centre of the city of Shakhty, kept me there for half an hour and released," said the oppositionist.

According to Maxim Slipchenko, he was detained when he tried to go to Moscow by regular bus. Policemen detained him and bought him to the UVD (Interior Department) of the town of Kamenolomni.

"After the first phone call, they forced me to give them my mobile phone. To protest against one more detention, I went on a hunger strike, and after that they read to me the protocol on Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation - disobedience of a lawful demand of a police officer," said Maxim Slipchenko and added that, during the last year, he faced four detentions for the same article.

According to Maxim Slipchenko, during his stay at the UVD, the police officers tried to intimidate him.

"They showed me a document, according to which I am forbidden to leave the region till December 4, 2011, that is, till the election date, to prevent extremist activities. Besides, two weeks before that, police officers put pressure on my parents, threatening them with dismissal from their jobs," stated Maxim Slipchenko.

At present, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of the law enforcement officers on the Maxim Slipchenko's detention.
