A weightlifter from North Ossetia broke the world record in the spurt

Svetlana Tsarukaeva, a Russian girl from North Ossetia, broke the world record in the spurt at the World Championship in weightlifting currently going on in Paris.

Yesterday, November, 8, Tsarukaeva became a record holder and World champion in weightlifting in weight class under 63 kg lifting a weight of 117 kg. The previous World record of 116 kg was established in November, 2005, by representative of Thailand Pavina Tongsuk, RIA "Novosti" reports.

In the totals of snatch Tsarukaeva lifted 255 kg (117 in the spurt and 138 kg in the jerk). The two-time World champion Maya Maneza from Kazakhstan became a silver medalist yielding 7 kg to Tsarukaeva. The "bronze" was taken by Chinese athlete Yuan Siaofan (246), "Interfax" reports.

Earlier, Svetlana Tsarukaeva got "silver" at World championships three times.
