A supposed gunman detained in Chechnya turned out a native of Kazakhstan

A supposed participant of armed underground detained on November, 3, in the foothill Urus-Martan district of Chechnya, is a native of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Chechen Republic reported.

"A former participant of gangsters' underground Muskaev detained in the settlement of Gekhi was born and brought up in Kazakhstan. Before he came to Chechnya in 2000 he had lived in Yermakovsky district, Pavlodar region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The investigation is currently establishing how Muskaev managed not only to come to Chechnya at the moment when active combat operations were going in the republic but also to become member of gangsters' underground", a representative of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the republic says.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that the thirty-seven-years-old Muskaev residing in the settlement of Gekhi was detained domiciliary on November, 3, by the personnel of the republican Ministry of Interior Affairs after they received operative data that the man had formerly been involved in the separatists' paramilitary groups.

"Muskaev has made confessionary statements saying that since August, 2000, till January, 2001, he was member of a gangsters' group under the command of a certain Shamil Amaev. An inquiry to establish his possible involvement in committing grave and especially grave crimes is now in process. Muskaev is currently on his own recognizance", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent's interlocutor said.

The position of Muskaev's relatives or representatives is yet unknown.
