The number of people poisoned in a cafe in Kabardino-Balkaria increased up to 31
13 more persons were hospitalized in Nalchik with suspected botulism. So, the number of people who got poisoned in the cafe of Agricultural Academy of Kabardino-Balkaria increased up to 31 persons, Head of Press service of the Ministry of Public Health of the republic Marina Osmanova reported.
"On November, 2, ten persons were hospitalized, Osmanova explained. - At night of November, 3, three more persons were taken to the Center of Prophylaxis and Struggle against AIDS and infectious diseases of the Ministry of Public Health of Kabardino-Balkaria. Botulism was diagnosed with all the patients".
We will remind that earlier, 18 persons including students, employees of Agricultural Academy in Nalchik, an employee of the enterprise of public catering and four people in a grave state who got poisoned in Kabardino-Balkaria were reported.
The first group of persons with signs of poisoning emerged on October, 29. Botulism was diagnosed later. On October, 30, Radima Yezieva from the town of Nartkala, fifth-year student of the Academy, died in Urvan district hospital but this news came only today.
Three patients are currently in the resuscitation department, a certain improvement is registered, "Rossyiskaya Gazeta" reports.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that according to the investigation, cucumber pickles bought at the market were the cause of poisoning. They were added to salad and hamburgers. Presently 11 cafes and canteens which were attended by students of the Agricultural Academy are closed. This decision was taken by "Rospotrebnadzor" of Kabardino-Balkaria carrying out epidemiological inspection.
