New issue of magazine "Dosh" focuses on human rights violations

On November 1, the regular, namely, the third in this year, issue of the independent Caucasian magazine "Dosh" has been released. It contains materials on human rights violations in the North-Caucasian republics, interviews with famous people, photographs, cultural and historical sketches.

"This issue presents more material from North Ossetia and Dagestan - it catches the eye. However, in my opinion, its most important advantage is that it presents the information which the reader would never see at the state media," states Israpil Shovkhalov, the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Dosh".

"We would like to see that this issue would contain less evidences of human rights violation, less negative information," says Abdulla Duduev, the deputy of the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Dosh", "however, the situation in the Caucasus itself dictated the topics for the issue."

In this issue, the editor-in-chief's column is devoted to the Moscow City Court's verdict on the resonant case of the murder of Yegor Sviridov, a fan of the "Spartak" FC. The author talks about the fairness of the sentence to the main defendant Aslan Cherkesov, a native of Nalchik, and how the verdict will affect interethnic relations.

The traditional column "Caucasian Review", which is prepared by the "Caucasian Knot", highlights the most significant events in the Caucasus of the period of June 15-October 15: resonant special operation, terror act and a series of "elite" attempts in Dagestan. Besides, the column also contains material on the two-year anniversary of the Natalia Estemirova's murder - the conclusions of the official investigation and the results of the investigation conducted by the human rights activists, the colleagues of the murdered journalist, on the basis of which they conclude that the investigation is on the wrong track.

One material of the issue reports how Chechen teenagers Movsar Djamaev and Rustam Daudov prevented death of children from the terror act in Norway. According to the refugees from Chechnya, their personal experience of Chechen war helped them not to get lost in that situation.

"Fatal Knockout" - this material talks about the death of a Moscow student Ivan Agafonov, who died after the hit of Rasul Mirzaev, the World champion in sambo. The incident involving the famous Dagestan sambo athlete met large resonance and became another reason for the anti-Caucasian propaganda, the article emphasizes.

The article "South Ossetia: between elections and revolution" states that the pre-election situation in the republic brought strained relations between supporters and opponents of the government to the limit.

"What makes Dagestani young people take up weapons?" This question was put to the residents of different regions of Dagestan by the initiators of the public questioning. You can find out, how opinions of the questioned participants, politicians and public figures of the republic have differed, from the material under the name "Forest alternative?"

"Error, degenerating into crime" - this material reports how Ruslan Magomedov, an occasional victim of a special operation in Dagestan, was brought the police station in the city of Makhachkala instead of the hospital, where he suffered from violence.

The village of Khutrakhi became famous after "clean-up" which was conducted in the village on September 23-30, 2011. Almost all inhabitants of the village with population of 340 persons suffered from torture, violence and robbery. You can read the material about the details of the incident with the comments of numerous victims in the magazine's article "Power agents reproduce their experience of clean-up by "Chechen" scenario".

"One hundred hours in hell" - the material talks about Zelimkhan Chitigov, a young Chechen man, who gave testimony in the court in Ingushetia about torture committed by officers of the Ministry of the Internal Affairs (MIA).

Besides, the magazine posts a report "Struggle for Human Dignity" talking how Public Commissions try to establish control over observance of human rights in prisons.

In his interview to the magazine "Dosh", Magomed Mutsolgov, the famous Ingush human rights activist, the leader of the human rights organization "MASHR", talks about his thoughts on the situation in Ingushetia.

The problem of internally displaced persons (IDPs) remains an urgent hot topic for Ingushetia. The article "Without Spark of Friendship" reports about the challenges that the IDPs face for many years.

"She was the Only One". The material on the fifth anniversary of the Anna Politkovskaya's murder reports on the evening in memory of the observer of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta".

The report on the first meeting of representatives of the public organizations of Chechnya and Ingushetia with representatives of the "Voice of Beslan" is called "Forty three kilograms of truth".

Besides, the magazine "Dosh" publishes the material about the report on the situation with media in Chechnya and Dagestan, which was issued by the international organization "Reporters Without Borders". The material analyzes the level of freedom in the North Caucasus.
