In Kabardino-Balkaria, unique necropolis plundered

In Kabardino-Balkaria, "black archaeologists" continue to plunder the unique necropolis near the village of Zayukovo. This was reported by Victor Kotlyarov, an historian and ethnographer.

"Despite the written appeals of the head of the Republic's Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) to the authorities, no actions to preserve the object have been undertaken till now," says Victor Kotlyarov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, in mid-October, Sergey Shagin, the head of the Kabardino-Balkarian MfE, appealed with a letter to the Republic's leader Arsen Kanokov, asking to take measures to protect the necropolis. The ancient burial ground is being plundered. Area of about four hundred square meters is dug across by the "black archaeologists".

During the last two weeks, about two dozen graves were dug in the territory of the necropolis; in total, about 120 graves were opened up.

This was proved by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, who had visited a unique place.

According to Victor Kotlyarov, the necropolis itself and the surrounding plateau are of interest. The plateau was likely a place for commitment of ritual acts.

A seat was hollowed in one of the stones.

According to the archaeologist Murat Orkvasov, a found object is an ancient pre-horizon solar observatory.

"The Solar Observatory of Zayukovo is only a small unexplored part of the vast pristine culture of the Hittite civilization; the nations, inhabiting our region today, are the heir of that civilization," says Murat Orkvasov.

According to Victor Kotlyarov, experts rank Stonehenge in England and Arkaim in Russia among such observatories.
