Residents of Sochi clean beaches for Day of Black Sea

On Saturday, October 29, an ecological event, dedicated to the International Day of the Black Sea, was held in Sochi. It was attended by schoolchildren, students and volunteers.

In particular, about 100 schoolchildren who arrived early in the morning on the beach near the village of Plastunka participated in cleaning of the coast. During one hour of the action, the schoolchildren filled more than 40 large garbage packets.

The administration of the city of Sochi and the Organizing Committee "Sochi 2014" were among the organizers of the ecological action. After the cleaning was finished, awards and prizes were handed to the most active participants at the central square of the city, the "Interfax" reports.

"Several years ago, we had to clean the Sochi beaches; however, now, also due to the fact that Sochi was announced to be the capital of the Olympic Games in 2014, the urban areas became much cleaner," said Natalia Aseeva, a leading specialist of the Department of Education and Science of the Sochi City Administration, the "ITAR-TASS" reports.
