In Stavropol Territory, court considers journalist's lawsuit on beating in hospital in Budyonnovsk

On October 26, the Budyonnovsk District Court of the Stavropol Territory held its first session on the merits on the lawsuit of the NTV journalist, who was beaten when trying to film a report on the rape of a nine-year-old girl in Budyonnovsk hospital. This was reported by a representative of the court.

According to the source, the October 26 session listened to both parties and appointed the continuation for November 10, the "RIA Novosti" reports.

According to the journalist, he received a permission to film a report from the girl's mother; however, a hospital employee beat him and broke his camera.

After the incident, the press service of the regional GUVD (City Interior Department) issued a statement that the journalist had allegedly himself attacked the hospital's security; therefore, the journalist (his name is Ugryumov) had to seek protection of his honour and dignity at the court, the newspaper "Otkrytaya" (Open) reports.

Let us remind you that on October 17, the Stavropol Territorial Court held its first hearing on the criminal case on the rape committed in the hospital of the city of Budyonnovsk. The session was held behind closed doors.
